    From Stacey (Harley’s Mum)

Harley has been a little bit of a roller coaster at times over the past week. Sometimes he is almost back to his old normal self and other times he reminds us that he’s not well. From strange episodes of being jittery and stiff to falling over often - we never know what Harley we will get from one hour to the next. This has been a long, winding, bumpy road but we haven’t got to the end just yet. Only time will tell if he will recover from this and if it will be a full recovery or end up having long term side effects. For now, we will be making the most of his clingy cuddles and the infinite love he has to give us.

  • Still fighting!

Harley is determined to get back to his ‘old self’ Stacey said she thinks he’s there mentally, but his body is letting him down at times. He’s now walking on all 4 legs and not falling over as much. He can walk up and down stairs. He doesn’t need hand fed anymore. He’s super clingy and loves being back with his family. There’s still a way to go, Stacey noticed seizure type episodes the other day. The vet isn’t sure if it’s muscle spasms or seizures yet because they haven’t seen it for themselves. Harley is still on medication and has regular vet checkups. Stacey has said the bill is rising, and she appreciates all the help she’s been given through this page so far. Please, if you know anyone else that would like to help, can you share the page on your social media. Thank you to everyone that has helped in some way so far. Harley’s recovery has been amazing! To think they were talking end of life just a couple of weeks ago and to see him come this far! He’s a real fighter!

Thank you to everyone who has helped in one way or another with Harley’s recovery so far, we all really appreciate your generosity. It could be a long road ahead but he seems determined to make it through this. We are all looking forward to having him back to his normal self, but we are taking things day by day at the moment, we aren’t out of the woods yet.

  • Second Opinion

My sister changed to another vet after being told to prepare for putting him down, which didn’t make sense to her (and a bit of a scare) seeing that there were improvements each day with Harley.

After a second opinion at another vet, Harley was put back on fluids and vitamins as well as antibiotics and today he seems to be getting better - standing for longer periods of time and they think his eye sight is improving too. To think that today could’ve been his last day, and seeing him do so well is really messing with the emotions a bit - we are so proud of him for fighting this as much as he is, and hope to see him back home permanently and back to as normal as possible sometime soon.
