We now have moved to a 2nd line treatment as the government was going to charge me 200k then another 50k for my next treatment. That's half of my treatment now. I still have chemo 2 days and at home for 48 hrs attached to more chemo. Every 2nd week my lifes on hold but I love my off week. This body of mine is amazing and I do look after it eating 70% plant based food, very minimal sugar, nothing processed. Exercising still a goal to get up to what was my happy place for 20 years so I'm going pinc n steel physio to help me. Latest scan was a happy dance! I had shrinkage in my lungs and everything else is still stable. So let's try keep it this for as long as I can. I look at my kids every day and just love them so much they are what keeps me fighting. I still need to see my littlest reach school! There are hard days physically, emotionally. Cancer really has to be one of the most horrible toughest diseases to effect you and the wider family! I'm forever lucky and grateful to have such loving supportive family. They love, support and everything in between. They need a medal and deserve the world. Thank you to all my people and friends. Please keep supporting me and my family. 13k a month for treatment causes a huge financial strain and pressure on everybody. Still hoping one day it's free for me. Being here and watching my darlings grow up for as long as I can. Love and appreciate your support as always. Cancer is only a chapter in my life it doesn't define my whole story. Jay

  • Fighting for others!

      3 June 2025

It's Jay's 39th Birthday today and what a life changing year its been! 10 months after diagnosis Jay is still fighting and her life saving drug is still NOT funded! We are so proud as recently Jay and Mikale joined the rally and protest at Parliament in Wellington in support of lowering the bowel screening age! Amazing strong fighters, doing the right thing during challenging times! Here's the link to the news article and they were on 1 news too.

  • Still working hard to be here!

    A message from Jay:

I am doing well and the unfunded Avastin is working well to stop the cancer spreading even more. Your generous donations go to helping with continuing to fund the Avastin and my alternative treatments like vitamin C infusions, salvastrol and all my supplements. Alternatives strengthen my immunity so I can continue the chemo and Avastin treatments. We have already spent over 60k! While its great that Avastin has been funded for ovarian and liver cancers as of the 1st of March this year...it's so disheartening for us that it is still not funded for my colorectal cancer yet! But we will stay positive and hope that happens next. I'm so thankful always for everyone who donates and supports me. I'm spending quality time with my kids and family and recently we had family photos taken and I've attached one of me and my kids to share with you. I'm so glad to be able to thank you all for your support and I'll keep fighting! Thank you. Jay.

  • Thank you for your support!

      27 January 2025

At Christmas time we spent quality time with all our family. I got to have 1 week off chemo which allowed us as a family to just enjoy Christmas without all the cancer stuff. I'm still forever grateful for everyone who supports us and all the donations towards my treatment.  My blood are still amazing. Tumor markers have come down that they are all now in the normal range. (this means my primary tumor is not getting bigger).  I'm able to walk some distances now and take the kids to do a bit more. I am doing lots of alternatives. The big one is vitamin C infusions which help a lot but also cost a lot. I have another scan in 3 weeks which I'm feeling positive about. My oncologist is now thinking forward for plan b/c but said for someone with a large amount of disease you can't get better then how I'm tracking at the moment. I continue to focus on my mental health. I believe lots has to do with being positive. My family is a big part of my fight and help me to keep going even on my low days. I have to make sure Blake knows his mum. They are cutting down one of my chemos as I have started to get neuropathy in my feet (can be permanent). I already have it in my fingers but feet are a bit different as it could affect my walking.  I can only have 12 rounds of a drug called Oxaliplatin so that's why I need to continue the unfunded drug to try stop the spread and keep it at bay. I can't tell you how much your support means and how it is helping me stay in the fight thank you so much!
