Helping me to fundraise in my fight against Cancer
Beachlands, Auckland
Many of my friends and family in New Zealand and the UK will know that for the past 4 years I have been fighting Melanoma Skin Cancer, having fought two Stage 3 diagnoses. Well, I almost made it to 2 years clear but unfortunately I have recently found out that it has returned and spread to my Liver and is now Stage 4.
This news has hit very hard for me, Lisa and especially my son Ethan and we are going through some tough times processing it.
My doctors have told me that Surgery, Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy are not options for this type of cancer, which leaves my only option as a long course of BRAF inhibitor pill treatment (MEKTOVI and BRAFTOVI) followed by Immunotherapy. The BRAF pills will provide a significant outcome to me but unfortunately in New Zealand they are not funded by the public health service.
The cost of the course of BRAF treatment is estimated at $45,000 (£22,500).
We have already used up our savings on similar treatment during Stage 3 so are now having to look at alternative ways of self funding this time around.
This has led me to making this request for help, and it is not something I am doing lightly, but know that its what I have to do, in order to give me the absolute best chance to beat this and have a future with my wonderful family.
Any donation to our cause would be very gratefully received.
Thank you
Martin, Lisa and Ethan Ball
Any and all funds raised will 100% be used to help cover the cost for medical treatment only by helping to fund MEKTOVI and BRAFTOVI treatment
