Please Help My Brother Make the Most of the Time He Has Left

My brother is only 44 years old and has recently been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. What began as a frightening diagnosis has now become devastating news — the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes, liver and other areas, and we have just been told that surgery is no longer an option.

Treatment may still be possible to control the cancer, extend his life and manage his symptoms, but we have been told that there is no curative surgical option. Some treatments or other options may also involve costs that aren't fully covered by the public health system.

As his brother, I have started this page because I want to help take some of the financial pressure away from him, his partner and their two children at an incredibly difficult time.

The money raised will help with the many costs that come with this situation — travel to treatment and appointments, medications and supportive care, treatment options or clinical trials where appropriate, household expenses and, most importantly, allowing my brother and his family to make meaningful memories together while he still can.

None of us knows exactly how much time he has left. Rather than putting a price on that time, we simply want to make whatever time he has as comfortable, meaningful and memorable as possible.
