My name is Ben and I’m a 6-year-old greyhound. When I retired from racing I hoped to find my forever home right away, but my first few homes weren't a good fit. I was very scared that no one would ever want me because I have issues. I get anxious, I get bullied by big dogs and I have Pannus and could go blind if I don’t get regular treatment. I can’t help being this way; I’m really sweet and loving if people give me a chance.
When Skye heard about my story she knew I would be just right for her. You see, she has issues too. She has joint problems – if I pull too hard on my leash I could dislocate her arm! She had brain surgery and gets tired a lot. She also has an eye disease and could need cornea transplants one day. And she’s on the spectrum and knows what it’s like to be bullied and rejected for being a little different and ‘high maintenance’. So, we’re a perfect match!
She didn’t expect she’d be able to adopt me right away and everything happened so fast. She also didn't expect me to be so big - I'm an XL greyhound! Mum needs to fix the back fence because it isn't tall enough to keep me in and I need a me-sized kennel to keep me safe and warm in the yard when she’s not around.
Mum hates asking for help, but things are hard for her. She’s a writer but has to rely on the sickness benefit and she has no other support. She hasn't got a mate or puppies of her own. It’s just her, so she needs me just as much as I need her, so I’m asking instead. Please help my Mum.
Extending and reinforcing my back fence, purchasing a kennel, initial vet bills, new dog coats, toys and harness.
