Please help my Mum - Updates

Pathology Report

Today was pathology report day!

Good news is that radiation is not required, Bad news is due to mum having a heart condition, a test is now required to determine if her cancer cells will respond to chemotherapy. This is to avoid putting any unnecessary strain on her heart, if it doesn't respond to the chemotherapy.

This test is not funded in New Zealand or Australia and costs $3000 it is also not covered by her health insurance. We desperately need to get this test done as soon as possible so mum can continue on her journey of recovery. Every cent is being spent on this test, leaving no funds for day to day living over the treatment period.

Surgery

30 October 2019

Mum just had surgery this morning, doctor said it went well no complications. Went for a week walk was feeling a bit light headed but is recovering well, funny to watch her high as a kite

Appointment with the surgeon.

Mum let me come to the hospital to meet with the surgeon so I could also understand what was happening and if I had any questions I could ask them. We got the news that mum isn’t going to be able to get the lumpectomy like she had hoped to get, so only the lump was removed and some of her Brest was still there. Instead they are going to perform a mastectomy. Which will be better in mums case due to the location of the lump and a few other little ones they have found . They will remove her whole breast which then will also reduce the risk of them leaving them any cancerous cells behind so thats probably a good thing.

Chemotherapy has now also been added to the treatment list as well as the radiotherapy.
