Help Alexei Meet his Birth Family
Alexei has a rare heart condition called Eisenmenger Syndrome. This is to help so that he can meet his birth family and medical costs.

Alexei is aged 36 years. He has a chronic condition called Eisenmenger Syndrome which is a heart and lung defect, caused by untreated holes in the heart from birth. It is a life threatening condition. We are fundraising to help him buy a new lighter oxygen machine and wheelchair so that he can leave his home more easily and travel to meet his birth family, his dream in life.

Alexei was born in Ukraine, placed into an orphanage at 3 years of age in Pskov, Russia to then being adopted into New Zealand at 8 years of age. Doctors here suggested that Alexei would most likely be unable to reach the age of 17 as it was too late by then to fix his holes in the heart. They are quite amazed that his heart has been fighting for this long!
He spends a lot of time in hospital and is on so many medications, he jokes that he rattles when he moves!
Alexei has over time donated to the Heart Foundation, Starship and The Cancer Society to support others in need. He is down to earth and goes out of his way to help others.
He is in touch with birth family in Ukraine, who now have escaped the war to Poland.
He longs to see them once in his life but cannot travel without a specialised lighter oxygen machine and lighter mobility chair.
This will also enable him to get around in NZ, so he is not trapped at home.

The chance for Alexei to meet his birth family in Poland. A flight with specialised equipment with medical care and personalised assistance for Alexei is likely to cost over $60,000 dollars from New Zealand to Poland.

Hello all, thank you for helping with the donated funds, super thankful!
So far most of the funds have went towards getting a wheelchair, and glasses when they broke while in hospital during a seizure!
But the remainder of the funds are being put aside and managed by a fellow friend and my aunt toward what was stated during previous update on the page (specialised lighter oxygen machine and lighter mobility chair)!
