Helping out my mate, stage 4 Hodkins lymphoma
Hastings, Hawke's Bay
In April this year my childhood friend was experiencing symptoms which Dr google indicated she needed to have some testing done. Her GP subsequently prescribed meds to treat her symptoms which didn't work, over 2 months Anna did several trips and wrote multiple emails requesting chest x-rays and further testing, which her GP delayed wanting to try other remedies.
So, in June having had concerning symptoms for several months she was advised by a friend to go to Ed for a second opinion. The same day she was told it could be sinister and to come back for further tests which unfortunately confirmed her worst thoughts, and google diagnoses, of Hodgkins lymphoma. After a long 2 week wait for a PET scan in Wellington, Anna was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Anna has been an absolute champion going through her first round of chemo with little change, never complaining and always able to have a joke. She is now going through more invasive course of Chemo, having 4 rounds every other 2-week cycle, daily blood tests, various medications including daily injections. This has left Anna unable to work.
Life looks a bit different for Anna and her boys these days and the daily struggle is becoming real. Despite her current circumstances she continues to tough it out and provide some sense of normality for her two boys Jack and Brody.
Anna's parents have been amazingly supportive financially, but WE can also help relieve the financial pressure by giving a little to my mate!!
Childhood friend from way back!
