Please help Rudi's Spinal Rehab

Firstly, thank you from the bottom of our heart to all who have sacrificed financially to help make recovery easier for Rudi and us as a family. Rudi was discharged as an outpatient from the Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit on Friday the 8th and she is home now! Rudi will continue with her rehabilitation as an outpatient and has lots of hard work ahead of her. The ministry of health has approved the purchase of a wheelchair and that has been ordered and should be with us sometime next week. We're hoping that this chair is light weight enough for Rudi to mobilize easily around campus next semester as she is keen to return to study. If you know Rudi, she's happiest when she's studying so we are supportive of this and know this will do wonders for her mental health. We are trying our best to accommodate the changes needed around the house to improve her mobility, its a bit of trial and error at the moment. In terms of costs of things that we have incurred, we've had to make adjustments to her bedroom as it's quite small so we've purchased a new wardrobe with sliding doors so that swing-out doors do not encroach in the little space she has. We've also purchased multiple wardrobe inserts to hold her clothes at waist level so that she can easily pull them out and access what she needs and small side tables. We've invested in new linen including fitted sheeting and mattress protection. And of course, the bain of everyone's existence at the moment ... petrol. Although Rudi is home there will be plenty of trips still to and from the spinal unit as an outpatient for urology and PT. We need a new orthopaedic mattress for her but the costs are quite prohibitive so we are hoping that when/if acc approves her claim this is something they can assist with. She will return back to the spinal rehab unit for urodynamics testing so we can have a clearer idea of what is happening overall with her bladder control but we are so thankful that this area has regained the majority of its previous functionality, the question now becomes about if she is emptying completely and if she will require a suprapubic catheter to void daily to avoid infection.
