Please help fund Ruby's overseas treatments for ovarian cancer
Paihia, Northland
I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Ruby, a dedicated mother of three a loving wife, and local entrepreneur, who is bravely battling cancer. Ruby's journey has been incredibly challenging; She was pregnant when doctors discovered a tumor on her uterus that unfortunately burst before it was removed, leading to stage three ovarian cancer. This delay in diagnosis escalated her condition from a stage one tumor to stage three cancer, making her fight for her life with a newborn.
Ruby has endured multiple surgeries, surgical menopause, chemotherapy, and Avastin treatment, but unfortunately, those efforts were not successful. Now, she is facing a recurrence of this relentless disease and is preparing for a second round of treatment overseas.
I have known Ruby and her family for 20 years. They are devoted parents of three beautiful children. They are the kind of people that would give their clothes of their backs for anyone in need. It breaks my heart to see them go through this.
With limited options available in New Zealand, Ruby is travelling to Japan for life-saving procedures, which provides her the best chance for recovery. If the $50000 is not met funds will be used to pay for travel expenses to Japan.
Final Update on Ruby 3 April 2025
Kia ora, Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I hope you’re doing well. I want to provide an update on my friend Ruby and thank you for the support you’ve given her during this time.
Thanks to your generosity through the Givealittle page and the fundraiser we held, we were able to cover the cost of the therapies that Ruby received in Tokyo, including NK cell therapy and dendritic cell vaccines. Ruby was supported on her first trip by her good friend Phoebe, and on her second trip, her husband Taylor accompanied her. One of Ruby's really good friends, Bianca, also came over to meet her. All the support she received in Japan was incredibly uplifting and encouraging.
In between treatments, Ruby even had the chance to do a little sightseeing and absolutely loved Japan. The treatment went well, and now we are waiting for her PET scan, which will help us determine the next steps in her treatment plan. Although the battle isn’t over, we’re hopeful about additional options after her immunotherapy.
We appreciate all the support you’ve shown Ruby.
Rubys been home for a week and is settling back into mom life, greatful to be home with her children.
Thank you again for everything. Ruby often updates on her instagram page @rubyshealthrecovery if you want to follow along!
Nga Mihi,
Jules
