  • three months on...

It is really hard to believe but we are now over three months since Sienna's surgery. Our lives have returned to normal and I find myself forgetting that it actually happened!

Sienna has recovered every bit as well as the specialists told us she would and the school holidays saw her take to the slopes snowboarding! I won't say I wasn't filled with nerves but I had entire in faith in what we had been told in America - seeing her up the mountain, laughing and smiling and enjoying herself is a gift.

Thank you for all being behind the giving of that gift - we will be forever thankful to all that you gave in money and in messages. Nicola and Nicole - your support and organisation is, as always, treasured x

Great to see you are well after your operation. Take care of yourself and just go for it girl.

  • Two weeks post-surgery...

On April 26th, we nervously waited through 8 hours of surgery - she came through well and her surgeons were extremely pleased with her results.

Going into her surgery, they hoped that when they tethered the top curve that the lower might self correct enough to not need intervention. Midway through surgery, they advised me that they weren't 100% confident that the curve would hold alone and so were about to start the second surgery.

Sienna (and I) were looked after by the amazing staff of Saint Peter's University Hospital PICU for eight days before we were released 'home' to our hotel.

We have been back here a week and she is doing amazing - we take daily walks around the hotel halls, up and down the flights of stairs before returning to our room for her to sleep off the exhaustion.

She has been incredible and is pushing herself each day. WE met with one of our surgeon's on Friday and they checked her lungs by X-ray again. They are extremely happy with her progress and the recovery of them after they were alternatively punctured and deflated to allow access for the hardware.

I am still finding it hard to get my head around what they did to my girl but knowing that she now has a straight spine and her future is a lot more stable is more than enough to compensate.

Thank you for helping bring us here x

Sienna and I are currently sitting at Auckland Airport about to embark on the first leg of our journey. Our lives have seemed a little surreal lately but being in an airport closed by Covid is a whole new layer of strange! Thank you for all your support, kindness and messages 🙏❤️

  • Change of goal

      5 March 2021

Please be advised, Sienna's Father has indicated that he will pay half of the cost of her surgery, so we have been able to reduce our goal.

Thank you all so much for your support, of the family, they are all deeply appreciative of everything. Xx

Hi Nicole, Siennas Fathers side of the family do not wish to be associated with this fund raising idea.

We will be paying our share of all costs associated with getting Sienna the best treatment possible

Thank you to everybody so far that has contributed to Kim and Peters fund. Well done!
