Fundraising towards airfare from South Africa to New Zealand
Auckland
On Friday, 21 November, Andre Steenkamp suffered a sudden and traumatic fall, hitting his head. What started as an ordinary Friday evening on the North Shore in New Zealand, turned into a life-changing moment.
Following the fall Andre had a seizure, and an ambulance was called immediately. The paramedics fought tirelessly to stabilise him before rushing him to hospital. He underwent emergency brain surgery to relieve severe swelling and was placed in an induced coma for several days. Although he has since been brought out of the coma, Andre still isn’t responding.
This has been an overwhelming and heartbreaking time for everyone who loves him, especially his mom in South Africa, who is thousands of kilometres away and desperately worried about her son.
We are raising funds urgently so that Andre’s mom (Lorraine Myburgh) can fly to New Zealand in the next few days to be by his side. No parent should have to wait oceans apart while their child is fighting to survive!
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to the family. Your kindness and support will help bring a mother to her son when he needs her most. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The funds will go to roundtrip air fare (Johannesburg <=> Auckland) and travel insurance for Andre's mom, and funds will go to Auckland Immigration Services for her visa.
