Please help to replace our stolen Vans

Please help us to ensure the persons we support can get out to do the things they love.

Nationwide

We have had 5 Disability wheelchair vans stolen over the last 7 months, despite having security measures in place.

These vans are used to enable the persons who access the service to get out and about into their community to complete therapies and other activities of importance and interest to them.

While we have insurance to cover some of the loss of our vans it is not nearly enough to cover all the costs. We are unable to purchase brand new vans and therefore rely on secondhand ones. These are very hard to find and more often than not they need additional modifications to meet the needs. In particular the hoist needs to be of a specific load capacity to take a power chair. Additionally specific tiedowns need to be purchased.

About us

We are a Vocational Day Service for adults with complex intellectual and physical needs. The persons we support all have an individual programme which is community focused.

Use of funds

Any contributions will be used towards the purchase of a new van or vans, or alternatively, we would use funds towards the cost of purchasing and/or installing a hoist. We also will need to purchase tie downs for securing the wheelchairs.

What's happening with our vans  27 June 2023

Hi all, Thank you so much for helping towards the cost of replacing our vans. Of the 3 that were stolen (recently) 1 was recovered which has had the repairs required completed and we are able to use it again. The other 2 have not be sighted. We are currently working on finding replacement vehicles which is looking promising. We have one van which we will be purchasing for $31 k which is being fitted out with a new hoist, tie downs, floor track and two seats which is costing $20 k. Our insurance will go towards the fit out but not the price of the van. We potentially have found another second hand van which again will be partially covered by our insurance but not all. What has been donated to date will certainly help - so a great big thank you again.
