Please help us with vet bills towards the Omanawa cat Jett that was shot and managed to crawl his way home despite horrific injuries.
Bay of Plenty
On Wednesday, April 8th, we found our much loved cat Jett laying on the ground outside our house. He had a very obvious and nasty looking wound, so we rushed him to the vet. It turns out he had been shot (we still aren't sure by whom) and he managed to get himself home despite extensive internal injuries and what was clearly an incredible amount of pain.
He required two and a half hours of surgery and is now recovering (still in the care of the vet). We are asking for help with the massive vet bill that has been incurred due to some callous person's cruel and criminal activity. We have lodged a police report, but it will be hard to determine who did this and pursue them for the vet fees.
Jett has had a rough start to life, being a rescue kitten. He was found abandoned, eating dirt under a house. He survived cat flu, twice. He has had numerous injuries in his 18 months of life so far (he's a little accident-prone), but he just keeps battling. He is a very loving cat, who can never get enough tummy rubs. The fact that someone would shoot our sweet boy has been incredibly upsetting for the whole family, putting him down was not an option for us. He has kept on trucking through all the misfortune he's faced in life, but would not have survived this if it wasn't for the extensive treatment he received.
The bill is currently over $2,000 now and rising, not sure what the final total will be. If we exceed our vet bill, any extra will be donated to RRR - Rescue, Revive, Rehome, where we adopted him from and who are very concerned about his wellbeing. Anything you can contribute towards this would be greatly appreciated.
