It's been a while since I posted an update for my project to desex the ferral cats in Matarangi. This project ended up more of catching and rehoming small kittens and the raised fund was used for purchasing a trap, food for trapping, stuff for nursing kittens getting them ready for rehoming etc. I caught 9 kittens and they were all too young to desex, so their new families who adopted them commited to do it when they become 2kg size. I caught and desexed one young adult male cat, and we don't see any more cats here at Matarangi shops. I had wanted to wait a little longer than the end of last year to make sure there is no more cats around before donating the left over fund to spca and I did it on 19th January.

    Raised fund $1480.50

    Used $617.90

    Donated to SPCA $862.10

Due to the limited space I can't write down all the breakdowns of the fund usage, but if you wish to see it please flick me a message and I can send it to you.

Thank you so much again for your kind support. All those kittens are now in their forever homes, being happy loved and warm.

I would like to let you know that so far I've caught 7x small kittens and 2x young cats, all rehomed or being rehomed soon except for 1 young male cat. We kept him at our house trying to tame for 2 weeks but no luck. Afterall we decided to desex him and released. We were glad that we could desex a male cat which will reduce the number of kittens possibly be born in future by hundreds. I've used the raised fund for that surgery and I will use to do 1x kitten when it grows a little bigger for her new family but all other cats' desexing procedures have been taken cared by their new families using SPCA's Snip n Chip campaign. I am happy to let you know all the kittens are warm and happy in their new homes being loved and fed all the time, thanks to your support.

I've been trying but haven't maged to trap the mum cats. I will continue trying.

With this fundraiser, I raised $1450 (after page service fee) and so far i've used the following.

    15/06 Tabby boy desexing $150

    15/06 Food $16

    15/06 Purchasing a trap $81.40

    20/07 Food $16

    25/07 Pet carrier $22

25/07 Large crate for kitten nursery $79

    1/08 Food $16

I will keep the fund till the end of year and will donate the left fund to SPCA, or will discuss with you by email wether I should keep the fund and continue depending on the situation.

Should you have any question, please feel free to contact me.

    Kind regards
