    Hi all, as you know it’s a long wait for the decision of our Court of Appeal hearing. It’s a time we must be patient awaiting the outcome.

    Thank you to everyone who has supported us with donations, we are so grateful and close to reaching our goal.

    We were so fortunate to receive the largest donation we have ever been gifted of $20,000 which was deposited directly into our bank account for Respect Mount Richmond Otahuhu.

    This allowed us to reduce our givealittle goal to $25,000!

    As you can see we only have $6,000 left to raise.

    Please continue to share our givealittle link, especially to communities that have a volcanic cone in their local area, because their resource consents are on hold at present to fell hundreds of trees, pending the outcome of our hearing for Mount Richmond Otahuhu.

  • Court of Appeal hearing in Wellington last week 15 April 2026

    Good morning all, apologies for taking a few days to share an update of our hearing in the Court of Appeal Wellington last week.

    We were extremely lucky with the weather, a perfect sunny day with not a breath of wind visitors to Wellington are often welcomed with.

    Anna Radford from Honour the Maunga Mt Albert / Owairaka joined me, their group HTM have been a good supporting friend to Respect Mt Richmond Ōtāhuhu since both our communities have been confronted by the prospect of losing all of our exotic trees in a mass clear fell at our respective local parks and reserves.

    The hearing went very well, the panel of 3 judges were well prepared, having read all of the judicial review documents from our hearing in the High Court which set the resource consent aside, and were well versed in the synopsis submissions for the hearing before them.

    Our barrister did a grand job, we are very lucky to have him representing us.

    We now wait quietly for their decision, it could take some time.

    We thank everyone who has supported us enabling us to continue our court battle. We couldn’t have got this far without you!

    This case is very important to other communities in Auckland such as Mount Eden, Three Kings, and Mount Roskill, who have many exotic trees that are planned to be felled in the future.

  • First invoice for our Legal costs received.

    Hi all, we received our first invoice this week for legal costs towards our Court of Appeal hearing on 15 April, 2 weeks away. The invoice is $8,100.00 which is part payment of the expected overall cost of $45000.00

    I applied to Givealittle for an early payment to enable us to pay the invoice immediately. Our request was approved very quickly, thank you to the finance team at Givealittle for responding so fast! As soon as the funds land in our account the invoice will be paid immediately. Many thanks to our treasurer Karen McCraw for handling all of our legal payments to our barrister.

    Thank you to all who have donated since I launched our Court of Appeal crowdfund a couple of weeks ago. We couldn't have made this payment without your generous donations.
