Please show Wyatt you are with him as he battles AML leukemia!
Waikato
Wyatt is a cool little dude, I have known him since he was a toddler, he has always been a talkative, inquisitive, easygoing and helpful kid. Wyatt lives with his father Dean Rose, his partner Anna and her son Braxton in Orini, a small but awesome community in the North Waikato. Wyatt was your average nearly 11 year old boy until last Wednesday when he was at Waikato Hospital his family received the devastating news that Wyatt has leukemia. The next morning he was off in an ambulance to Starship Hospital.
AML is a rare type of leukemia that means the next months of his life will be full of tests, treatments and uncertainty. They don't know everything or anything really at the moment. At this stage it is looking like he will need to take up residence at Starship Hospital for maybe the next 8 months, It has been an absolute shock to the family but they are so grateful that testing and treatment has quickly begun.
The family are doing everything they can to keep positive and give Wyatt everything he needs to fight this nightmarish disease. He is going to need someone with him all the time throughout his stay at the hospital, putting the family under extra pressure income/employment wise, things are just so uncertain at the moment. One thing that is certain, is they are going to be doing plenty of travelling to Auckland and incurring alot of extra expenses in their journey to get Wyatt well again, plus all the regular bills don't stop either, it would be truly awesome if people were able to show their support for Wyatt by making a donation to the family.
My heart goes out to this family who have already endured more than enough suffering over recent years, Wyatt's Poppa Chris (57) suffered a massive stroke that doctors said he would die within weeks if not months from his stroke and would require full time palliative care. His wife, Dean's mother Debbie gave up her employment and devoted her life to caring for Chris, it has been such a long struggle and nearly 2 years later he is still alive, in rest home care since the start of this year. This has been a huge emotional and financial toll on the family, so resources are already stretched as they go into their next battle, which I know they will face with the same positivity and determination to fight against the odds.
I have known Dean's family for a very long time, his mum Debbie and I are like sisters. I just want to try and help ease the burden and suffering that this family are going through.
Money will go to Dean Rose to help towards costs involved in getting Wyatt through his treatment.
