Pollinate Energy Fellowship Program Fundraiser

I have been fortunate enough to have been selected to participate in a Pollinate Energy Fellowship Program in Lucknow, India. For a month in January/February 2018 I will be working on a project to support a new entrepreneur (a local 'Pollinator') to start their own business within India's urban slums.

In many places like India, the urban poor live off the grid, so kerosene remains the primary source of energy for lighting, heating and cooking. Not only does this emit poor quality light, meaning opportunities to study and work from home are limited, the health and environmental impacts of the widespread use of kerosene is devastating.

Pollinate Energy is a social business with a simple mission – to improve the lives of India’s urban poor by giving them access to life-changing and affordable products. With a focus on sustainable solutions, such as water filters, portable solar lights & fans and improved cookstoves, people are able to reduce indoor smoke, have better quality light, use less fuel and save money. The money saved from not buying kerosene quickly covers the initial cost of the solar products, which can be paid for on a payment plan.

Pollinate energy engages a network of local Pollinators who have sold over 22,000 sustainable products, impacting the lives of 100,000 people and counting. Pollinate Energy equips pollinators with the training and tools to sell products in their local community in a micro-entrepreneur style of employment.
