With heavy hearts we share that our beloved Mateo took his final breath at 6:15 am on June 25, 2025. Surrounded by family, he faced his journey with strength and left us peacefully.

Mateo will be brought home to Napier on Thursday, June 26, where he will lie and rest at the family home for the coming days.

All contributions will go toward funeral expenses and support the family during this difficult time.

We are profoundly thankful for the love, prayers, and strength you’ve offered. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts as we honor Mateo’s memory.

    To you, Mateo:

We wish you a safe journey home. May you watch over us as our guardian angel. Our love for you is immeasurable, and you will forever remain in our cherished memories. We pray, God, that you guide our boy as he ventures onward.

    Update on Mateo’s Condition

We are deeply saddened to share that, despite the tireless efforts of the incredible medical team, Mateo’s condition has significantly declined. He is no longer responding to treatment, and dialysis is no longer working for him. After many difficult conversations and with heavy hearts, his doctors, nurses, and family have made the hard decision to let Mateo rest, allowing him to choose when he himself is to tired and ready to leave earth. Mateo is now being allowed to pass peacefully, surrounded by his family and loved ones. We take comfort in hoping that he is embraced in heaven and watches over his family. We are profoundly grateful for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this incredibly painful time.

We will continue to provide updates over the coming days. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

You do not know me, but my son Winston is a good friend of Mateos at St Patrick's School. My heart goes out to you all especially his parents, grandparents, and his little brother Montiel. May the lord bless you all and keep you all in his heart. I will continue to pray for Mateo and his whanau and on behalf of my whanau and I, we send you love.
