Raising funds to cover the hospital and ICU costs of Salvador Vallejo, currently fighting prostate cancer complications in the Philippines
Auckland
Our Papa, Salvador Vallejo (known to many as Badong) is currently fighting for his life in the ICU in the Philippines. Since 22 June 2026, he has been battling serious complications from prostate cancer, including kidney failure requiring emergency dialysis, a nephrostomy procedure, and is currently intubated in intensive care.
This is not Papa's first battle. Over the past two years, he has undergone multiple major operations and hospitalisations, each one taking a serious toll on his health and on our family's finances. As his family based in New Zealand, we have been doing everything we can to support him and the family in the Philippines through each of these difficult episodes. Sadly, the ongoing medical costs over these years have exhausted our personal savings, and we now find ourselves unable to cover the costs of this critical hospitalisation on our own.
Every dollar raised goes directly toward his mounting hospital and medical costs during this ICU stay. Papa Badong is a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many. If you can spare anything at all, it would mean the world to our family during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 🙏
Salvador Vallejo is my father-in-law - we call him Papa, and he means the world to our family
All funds raised will be transferred to Ana Lisa Vallejo Salvador, Salvador's daughter and my wife, on his behalf, to cover his ongoing hospital and medical expenses in the Philippines
Papa Badong Update: Out of ICU, Still Fighting 3 July 2026
We are grateful to share that Papa Badong is now out of the ICU. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, no matter the amount. We deeply appreciate every cent given to support him.
His journey isn't over yet. He still needs dialysis three times a week, and due to his low hemoglobin, he won't qualify for free dialysis once discharged. The hospital bill currently stands at PHP 460,000+ (approximately NZD 13,000), not including doctors' fees, and he cannot be discharged until this is settled.
We are still short of what's needed, and we continue to welcome any support you can give. Every donation and every share brings Papa Badong closer to going home and continuing the treatment he needs.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with our family. 🙏❤️
