Just would love to know how you did in Lesbos. If you achieved tour goals. aware you didn't get the $30 000 you said you needed.

Do hope and pray that you managed to do what you set out to do cheers

I'm hoping you're all keeping an eye on what's happening over on Lesvos just now? All refugees are being sent back to Turkey... refugee camps have been emptied of refugees and volunteers and turned into prison camps... volunteers that help refugees will be arrested for people trafficking.. we are in daily contact at present... people are being advised to stay away from Lesvos.

Dear Mr Gill, we are also in regular contact with the Lifeguarding body that we are partnering and working with when we arrive.

Our goal has always been towards the prevention of drowning and while there has been some changes within the status and access of refugees we both know that they will continue on this journey in the hope of a better life for themselves and their families.

We leave on the 22nd April as planned.

Kind Regards

A couple of errors in your intro section....it is 7-9km across the Aegean from Turkey to Lesvos and I see you say this is the first New Zealand involvement even though you are aware that my wife and I have been already? Also many other Kiwi's on the island already.

Thank you Steve & Lynn Gill, will check out that distance and absolutely good on you for noticing that we are not the first NZ involvement. It is meant to refer to the first New Zealand lifeguard’s getting involved, apologies for that. Your involvement has been awesome, we really appreciated you briefing us on the situation out there, plus the many others Kiwis involved or about to get involved.

Are you still going if you dont reach your target?

Bethells Beach Surf Life Saving Patrol

Hi Steve and Lynne, we have recently partnered with House Of Travel who are assisting us with our travel requirements. This has now confirmed our trip however we still require $30,000 for the essential equipment that these donations are critical for.

Kind Regards
