I’m fundraising to support the Alakara Home girls’ care, education, and wellbeing, and to help finish the new boarding school.
Otago
In November, I’ll be travelling to northern Uganda to visit Project Moroto and spend time with the girls at Alakara Home — a safe home for orphaned girls that provides family, food, healthcare, and education. I’ll also help with the final touches on Project Moroto’s new girls’ boarding school, nearly 500 km north of Kampala.
Both initiatives are New Zealand–run and give these girls a safe learning environment to build confidence, gain skills, and prepare for their futures. The new school is almost complete but still needs funding. As I believe sport does wonders for confidence and mental health, part of the funds raised will go towards sports equipment.
Every contribution helps:
• $5 buys a pair of shoes
• $10 provides three days of food per child
• $15 covers a local blanket or school uniform
• $5,000 will plaster a school building
• $10,000 will put a roof on one
It would be amazing to offer more support for this incredible work and the girls themselves. Any donation — big or small — would mean so much.
If you’d like updates along the way, please include your email with your donation.
Thank you — being able to visit, help in person, and contribute through donations will make a real difference for the girls.
I’ll be there in person this November, spending time with the girls at Alakara Home and helping to get the school ready for opening in February.
The money will go towards school supplies, sports equipment, and supporting the daily care and education of the girls at Alakara Home.
