In stressful times, physical & emotional strength & calm are found here with yoga. Help us continue to operate despite covid's financial hit
Hamilton, Waikato
Katie Deare leads & has completely PERSONALLY funded Sun Salute (our beloved community yoga centre) into being. It's her labour of love.
Sun Salute is a dedicated, affordable, sublime space. I'm hoping we can make Sun Salute independent, self sustaining & debt free so its always here for everyone.
Katie has agreed I may ask for assistance so Sun Salute can sustain through these long continuing covid times. Over 2 years of reduced numbers, closed doors, adopting online technologies....you know the drill, have taken a toll. Let's help!
All shapes, sizes, genders, abilities & ages can attend from Mums & Bubs to inspiring 94 year old Yogi Maureen (5 classes a week!).
Katie and her team are consistently there for us. She is truly the most open hearted person, who shares generously her dedication to yoga with her local & online community. She personally foots the bills & has held yoga space open for all for over 20 yrs.
Despite attendees paying fees, vastly reduced class sizes for over 2yrs, & for the foreseeable future, means Katie needs financial community support . Long may she continue this mahi.
I'm calling anyone who has ever benefited from the peace, fitness, calm & centeredness yoga creates, to ask if you give can a little back, or pay a little forward, to ensure Sun Salute can ride through this covid induced financial storm to keep thriving and offering us a place to practice together, in person and online, (classes are accessible on zoom live, nationwide and beyond).
I am a yoga student of this shala and as a by product a member of the wonderful local community for over 5 years. I want to support Katie's wholeheartedness and help financially so she may long continue in this space for everyones benefit. Yoga Yay!
The money will sustain the overheads involved to keep the doors open and keep the technology evolving so classes reach those who cannot attend in person. Hopefully it can become independent, self sustaining & debt free so it can always operate classes.
With thanks. 3 April 2022
I am so amazed at how generous everyone has been at a time when things are difficult and unknown for all. When Leslie came to me and said that she thought the yoga community might like to help, I knew she was right, but I also felt very reticent at asking at such a time. But I've learnt to drop my arms and let the good flow. I am forever indebted to Leslie and to you all. It's very motivating and I want to thank you sincerely. Please would you push the word around a bit and share the page here and there, we're on a roll and the campaign will finish soon! Some news: my landlord has put the rent up 25% as of this month, but I've made a strategic move and arranged to sub-lease Hearth out. This goes to a very capable person who will do a beautiful job of it. It's super sad to see it go ... but, all good things come to end and I have more time now and I have the rent much more sorted with the income from Hearth's lease. We still have our little yoga kitchen from which to serve Dahl and coffee whenever we want! Much love to all, I hope everyone is well. Katie XOXO
