Please help our Pt Chev School Mathematics Engineering Tournament of Minds team compete in the international Grand Final on the Gold Coast!
Auckland
We are year 5 and 6 kids from Pt Chevalier School. Last Saturday we went to Wellington to compete in the Tournament of Minds national final in the Engineering Mathematics category - and we won!
We’ve now been invited to attend the Australasian Pacific Grand Final at Sea World on the Gold Coast from 13-16 October 2016. That’s in three weeks’ time!
Tournament of Minds (TOM) is a cool, challenging problem solving competition for teams of primary, intermediate and secondary school kids focused on STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths). They’re the subjects kids our age are going to need to succeed in the future. Loads of young people take part from all over Australasia.
We were really proud to win our category in Wellington, and are super excited to represent NZ in the Engineering Maths category at the international Grand Final.
Our awesome mums and dads helped us to get to the national competition but to reach the Gold Coast we’ll need even more help.
To get there, we need to raise our team entry fee of $6,500 (which doesn’t include our flights). We don’t have a lot of time but with your generous help we might just make it!
The team fee includes:
- accommodation
- transfers
- all meals
- entry into the Opening Ceremony
- unlimited access to Sea World, and
- event running costs.
Our flights will cost around $500 each return.
Please help us to make ourselves, our families, our school and our community proud by giving just a little to get us to the Gold Coast!
Thank you!
Anna, Jed, Bella, George, Maggie and Olivia
