Punch for Purpose 2
Otago, Dunedin City
Kia Ora, my name is Catherine and I’m participating in the Punch for Purpose 2 and my purpose is to raise funds for The Nest Collective and educate as many people as we can about what we do and the demand. The Nest Collective is a Charity that works alongside community partners, such as midwife’s and social workers to provide free packs of baby essentials for Whānau in need.
One in nine children live in households reporting material hardship, and not having enough to provide creates stress. Material hardship can be caused by many different scenarios, premature babies, young parents, sick new borns, babies suddenly entering the foster system and the big one, the cost of living. The environment a child is brought into and raised in for the first few years of their life impact life long trajectories.
The Nest Collectives why is to support parents and caregivers in need because every baby deserves the best start, in order to live a healthy and happy life. Not only has the Ōtepoti Boxing Club created a warm and welcoming community for individuals to work on themselves through the training camp and have the opportunity to step into the ring with purpose.
We are also fundraising for The Suicide Prevention Trust, so make sure to book your tickets for the 15th of June and donate what you can to help both of these amazing charities who do crucial work in our community.
