  • Christmas update

Thank you everyone for all your help.

Tane has learned a lot in the time we have had him, he's settled into life in our home really well and is a very loved member of the family now.

Tane goes to doggy daycare once a week, for socialisation with other dogs and is a popular doggy their.

We couldn't have done this without all your help! We are so grateful to you all. ❤️🙏

Merry Christmas to you and your families 🎄❤️🎅

  • We have updated our goal

      25 July 2021
    Main image

We have reached the conservative goal amount I set.

We never expected to reach that amount and are so grateful to each and every one of you for your help and support.

We have now updated our goal amount to reflect the last part we need to achieve which is the specilsed training Tāne needs, and the extra cost related to that taking place such as travel, paying for him to be tested after all his training, paying for the fees for him to be a registered support dog etc.

The training and classes I'm taking him to are going well and I'm working with him lots, but there is still a huge amount of training needed to be done.

Also an update on TJ... She is due to have surgery in late August, unfortunately the cysts are too large to remove via laparoscopic surgery so she will be needing a full abdominal cut in her surgery which will mean a longer hospital stay and recovery period. But I have to admire her she had a down period but is doing okay at the moment. But I expect as the operation date nears her anxiety levels will increase and its likely by surgery date we may have autism meltdown. But I/we can deal with that and calmly work through it to support her.

  • Tāne and his Cone

      9 July 2021
    Main image

Last week Tāne had a visit to the vet for his neutering.

This was an important part of his journey to being TJ's support dog.

Neutered dogs are calmer, they also interact with other dogs and people in a less territorial manner.

He's already bouncing around again and his stiches come out next week.

  • Tāne and TJ

      13 June 2021
    Main image

TJ and Tāne have begun to form a lovely close bond together.

I've been working with him on his basic training, and we are about to begin classes at the Taupo dog club.

TJ has an MRI appointment next week then we'll be moving forward with finding out when surgery will happen.

It's unlikely without the specific training that we'll be able to have him by her side in certain places at this stage sadly, however I 'm hoping if I can get the basic obedience commands sorted that at least we might be able to have him by her side at more places.

So we are working towards raising above our goal to facilitate extra training. As so far what we have raised has been enough to cover our initial costs and we are so appreciative and could not have done it without your help!

  • Tāne is settling in well, he loves his blanket

      5 June 2021
    Main image

Tāne is settling in really well. His basic training is coming along well, but we are still struggling to afford to raise enough funds to cover the costs of the specilsed training sessions.

So if you can continue to ask your friends to spare $5 we'd be very grateful.

  • Training costs

      30 May 2021

So we have used the money raised to purchase the delightful Tāne and he's settling in well with us.

We have also paid for a comprehensive Vet check and we have paid for his last Pavo and also paid for his Kennel Cough and Leptospirosis Vaccinations. We have registered him with our local council and purchased some toys, a collar and a coat for him for those frosty mornings

This has used a good chunk of our own money and the generous donations we have received so far.

Next we need to raise a little more so we can reach the target goal of $4000 which will help cover the cost of some consultations on specialised training techniques and some obedience and puppy school classes.

So please keep on sharing this give-a-little and encouraging people you know to make a small donation every dollar counts, no donation is too small. Even just $1.00, helps us get $1.00 closer to our goal.

Thank you all so much for your support! ❤️🙏🐶

  • Routine trip to the Vet for Tāne

      28 May 2021
    Main image

Today Tāne was a brave boy as TJ & I took him to our fantastic local vet to have his final Pavo shots and to have a good check over.

He was (as always) just fantastic!

He was fussed over by everyone who met him and given lots of treats.

Then we stopped of to get his dog registration done at the local Taupō district council.

Tāne also got to have a play with Maddie dog (my mum and dad's dog).

So it was a huge day, he's been sleeping 😴 lots this evening.

  • Announcing the arrival of Tāne, TJ's new support puppy! 🐕‍🦺

      27 May 2021
    Main image

We just wanted to share the wonderful news that with your amazing help we have managed to acquire a wonderful wee miniature schnauzer puppy from Cheraton Kennels in Tauranga.

TJ loves him and he has a wonderful temperament. TJ has named him Tāne Nox O'Reilly, Tāne after the Māori God who separated Ranginui and Papatūānuku bringing light to the world, we feel this beautiful boy will bring so much joy and light to her world. The middle name Nox is the Roman Goddess of the night and the colours associated with her are black and silver which are wee Tāne's colouring. Pictured is the first night at home.

We still have a little more fundraising to do to help us with some basic and more special training Tāne will need so he can better support TJ. But we just can't thank you all enough for everything you've all done for us, TJ and myself have been blown away by the amazing support of our friends, family and community. ❤️ We love you all!

  • 3/4 of the way to our target 🎯 $3000 out of $4000

Wow I just can't believe that we have had 39 amazing people donate towards our cause and we have hit $3000! TJ and myself just can't thank you enough!

We got a call yesterday from Rotorua hospital and have a appointment in early June for some tests prior to a surgery appointment so we really need to push to try to get that last little amount raised.

I'd really appreciate it if you guys could please once again share TJ's story and the link for this give-a-little with people you know. We are also hoping maybe some business may want to sponsor the support puppy in some way, as we have a good following and will be creating an Instagram for it for our followers to stay up to date with the journey.

We feel so supported by you all!

TJ keeps telling me that she can't believe that people actually want to help her, but that she appreciates it so much. ❤️

Thank you all once again Kristin & Tyler-Jane (TJ)

We had the absolute pleasure to meet this little guy today. We wanted to see what his temperament was like and if he showed the signs we would need in a support dog for TJ.

Well he absolutely blew us away, He was awesome! He really seemed to click well with TJ and was totally drawn to her and seemed to naturally know. TJ thought he was absolutely amazing and has talked and talked about him.

WE ARE NEARLY AT OUR GOAL PLEASE KEEP SHARING TJ's STORY SO WE CAN HIT OUR NEEDED TARGET AMOUNT. 🎯

Here is a picture of today's visit 💙

  • Outing with TJ and my parents dog Maddie

      20 May 2021
    Main image

My parents are away so we are lucky enough to have had Maddie staying with us the last few days. Which was amazing timing given the news we have just received about TJ needing surgery, as she's very nervous about it. So having Maddie here has been great to help soothe her.

We went out for a lovely walk along the Taupo Lakefront today which was beautiful.

Both TJ and Maddie had a great time.

  • Our puppy goal

      19 May 2021

We have set this goal to get to, as we are looking at Miniature schnauzers as the breed that would be best suited to TJ's needs and is a breed she loves.
