Quinn's Quest

  • Update for 17/04/2013

      17 April 2013

Thank you so much for all the new donations that we have received this month. Quinn and her family have been home in Palmerston North for nearly 2 weeks and they have been so busy catching up with friends and family but also taking time to do the 'normal' things in life. We have a couple of fund raising activities happening at the moment. Head on down to The Hair Company, Main Street, Palmerston North where they have a raffle going at the moment full of fantastic hair products and vouchers, tickets are just $2. This Saturday at Bunning's, Palmerston North, The 'Wanna B's' relay for life team are holding a sausage sizzle from 8:30am to 4:30pm with proceeds going to Quinn's Quest. Thanks to all of you for supporting Quinn and her family.

Thanks once again to all of you lovely people who have donated to Quinn's Quest. I was lucky enough to go to the airport today and meet the Hautapu family when they arrived home. Quinn's words were ""It's good to be home"". Quinn and her family were very excited to be home. I'm sure they will have an amazing month at home filled with friends and family before they leave for more treatment. Keep smiling Quinn.

Thank you so much to all of you that have donated money to the Hautapu family. You are an incredible group of people not only the friends of Hautapu's but we have had a few anonymous donors as well. Quinn and her family will be home in Palmerston North in a few days time. I expect they will be sighing with relief they are back for a month to recuperate and recharge their batteries for the next bout of treatment. Thanks again for your support, love and kind words.

Thanks for all the new donations made in the last week. I'm so pleased we have over $1000 for the Hautapu family now. All going well Quinn has 9 doses of radiotherapy left before the family can come home for a well needed break. I know my family and I can't wait to see them all. Watch this space as we have been given some Turbos merchandise to auction on our Trade Me site and of course all proceeds will go to Quinn's quest. A BIG thankyou to the Turbos. I will post the link as soon as the auction starts.

Quinn starts day 19 of radiotherapy today and only 12 more doses to go until she has a break and hopefully a trip home to Palmerston North. She seems to be coping remarkably well, both physically and mentally and that has a lot to do with the constant support of two amazing parents. I must admit I have been a wee bit shocked to see Quinn's rapid hairloss over the last week but this is the stark reminder of cancer and its treatment. I shared these photos of Quinn with my 7 year old daughter in preparation of when we see Quinn next. I explained how brave Quinn is and what Quinn was going through. My daughter asked a lot of questions but was accepting of Quinns new look. Children never cease to amaze me as to how well they can cope with new situations whilst us adults struggle at times. We have a lot to learn from them. We are here to support Quinn and her family through this journey. Keep sending us that smile Quinn. (JB)
