Help me to pursue my dream to compete in the mountain bike Enduro World Series across Europe, and to secure a spot on a professional team
Nelson / Tasman
Hi, my name is Raewyn and I am a 25 year old, up-and-coming Kiwi mountain biker, currently ranked number one in New Zealand Enduro. I am well known for my riding skills, results, positive bubbly personality, and my strength and determination after an impressive comeback into racing after I was told I may never race again following a significant hip and pelvic injury early 2013.
2014 was my first racing experience on the international circuit, where I obtained several 1st places at local Canadian events and a 14th place at Round 6 of the Enduro World Series in Whistler. It was a great learning experience and a huge eye opener into the world of professional sports. From here I returned home to work as a physiotherapist and trained hard for the upcoming NZ season. I had a great season with multiple wins and podium spots, including the 5 Day Trans New Zealand Enduro, winning by a significant margin. Recently, I finished 11th at the opening round of the Enduro World Series held in Rotorua, despite having the day plagued with mechanicals and crashes.
I have learnt a lot and gained valuable experience that will assist and prepare me for the upcoming international season, where I will follow the World Series throughout Europe.
My partner Mark and I have worked hard and saved the bulk of our funds to cover living and most of our travel costs. We are keeping the expenses down by traveling on a budget and living out of a van. Money donated will go towards airfares, two ferry crossings (from UK to Ireland and Ireland to Scotland) to get to rounds 2 and 3, and remaining entry fees and bike maintenance. If our fundraising target is exceeded, the extra money will go towards getting to Rounds 5 and 6 in America and Canada.
I am putting everything into this season to chase my dream of riding and racing bikes professionally while representing New Zealand. The goal of the trip is to get noticed, get results, and to get onto a team for the following year.
On the 8th of May, I will embark on my adventure. I will be targeting the Enduro World series in Ireland, Scotland, France, Spain and Italy, and will also be competing in several rounds of the European Series.

Fundraising Quiz Night 7 April 2015
Thank you to everyone who has visited the page and especially to all you generous kind people who have donated. It is all greatly appreciated and I'm getting pretty excited as the count down to when I'm off begins.
Currently I am staying at my parents on the Kapiti Coast to save money and train.
Brent Atkin's (organiser of the No-Shadows cycling groups) and I have some up coming fundraiser events for anyone in Wellington and Kapiti Coast to get involved with.
1. Pub quiz: 23 April at Boundary Pub, Raumati. Entrance fee is $10 per head, with teams of 2-6 people, and we are currently organising spot prizes. One round of questions will be cycling related https://www.facebook.com/events/408529609329801/
2. Spin class: 19th April at the Paraparaumu City Fitness Gym. This has yet to be confirmed. If it's a goer, it would be $10 entrance and would again include spot prizes.
3. A core/strength exercise class for cyclists, ($10 again with date yet to be confirmed).
4. A mountain bike skills clinic on the 9th of May for beginners. This will be run by Sasha Smith, another top national-level rider. I will have just left the country, but Brent and Sasha have kindly agreed that the $10 entrance fee go to help with the fundraiser.
