Walking 3,000km the length of Aotearoa New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff, to raise funds for local and national charities.
Wellington
In Oct 2024, I will be embarking on an epic adventure! I will be walking the length of Aotearoa New Zealand to raise funds for charities (and a trust).
The walk itself is just over 3,000 km, following the Te Araroa trail, with almost 78,000 metres of elevation - that sort of elevation could get you well past the stratosphere!
I struggled to choose just one charity to support, so I didn't! Here are the ten awesome orgs I want to support through my journey:
- Breast Cancer Foundation NZ - https://www.breastcancerfoundation.org.nz/
- The Fred Hollows Foundation - https://www.hollows.org.nz/
- I Am Hope - https://www.iamhope.org.nz/
- Just Speak - https://www.justspeak.org.nz/
- KidsCan - https://www.kidscan.org.nz/
- Movember NZ - https://nz.movember.com/
- Oxfam Aotearoa - https://www.oxfam.org.nz/
- Te Araroa Trust - https://www.teararoa.org.nz/
- Wellington City Mission - https://wellingtoncitymission.org.nz/
- Wellington Women's Refuge - https://www.wellingtonwomensrefuge.co.nz/
I have chosen ten charities to support, with a range of local, national and international impacts that are important to me. I will be sharing their stories on my walk. All funds raised will be shared equally amongst these charities.
I'll be posting updates throughout the journey, so follow along for some wild adventures!
The goal is to donate $1,000 to each of these amazing charities & trust! These range from supporting local support initiatives in Wellington (my home), to national and international charities working for children, fight against cancer and criminal justice.
