Raising funds for my sister who has a rare incurable autoimmune disease.
Wellington
Hayley is the kind of person who has spent her entire life putting others first. Growing up in Lower Hutt, she built a career dedicated to helping people find jobs and secure their futures. But above all else, her greatest joy has always been her family - her devoted husband and two amazing children.
Life changed forever in 2012 when Hayley suddenly collapsed while doing some DIY. What followed involved many years of hospital admissions, endless medications and countless specialists. Finally, she received a diagnosis: eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), a rare and incurable autoimmune condition.
Hayley has fought this disease with immense courage, but her condition has now progressed. Today, she mainly relies on a wheelchair and requires care for her daily needs. Because EGPA is so rare, Hayley and her family have had to navigate this devastating journey with very little financial assistance, relying on a single income.
Hayley and her family have reached a point where Hayley's medical and care needs far exceed what they can manage alone. Every dollar raised will go directly towards supporting Hayley's medical care and helping this beautiful family ease their financial burden so they can focus on making precious, lasting memories together.
My name is Sam and I am Hayley's sister. I am raising funds as I have seen first hand how difficult it is to get help when you have a rare disease and how much these families have to give up.
Any funds raised will be spent on ongoing medical needs eg hearing aids, pharmaceutical and medical equipment, glasses, lymphatic massage as well as allowing Hayley and her family some breathing space financially.
