Raising for Eliana's legal and personal security expenses

    Kia ora everyone, I just wanted to update you on Eli and how she is using some of the funds you have all so generously donated.

    Most importantly, Eli is safe despite her home address being doxxed. Vicious thugs allied to an anti-LGBTQIA+ organisation turned up there to intimidate her and she has been unable to return there for her safety. So she is using some of the funds for safe accommodation at an undisclosed location in the meanwhile.

    Eli is deeply grateful to everyone who has given to help her. Our goal is to still to get to 30k to cover all her legal and security expenses. Any surplus will go to Rainbow Path.

    If you can afford to give any extra to the fundraiser Eli would be extremely grateful.

    The global situation for trans, intersex, gender non-conforming and non-binary people is deteriorating at the moment and by contributing to Eli’s fundraiser you have played a small part in fighting that. Thank you so much.

  • Update on Eli

    Everyone just an update on Eli which I have been authorised to give. She will appear in court again in early July and her outstanding legal team are all in place. She is being looked after by some of Aotearoa's leading activists at the moment. There is a security plan in place.

    She won't be on social media throughout this process. But she knows the depth of support she has as we pass on the messages of goodwill. And if you have given to her fundraiser she thanks you so much. That's all for now.

  • Clarification of expected legal expenses

    Hi everyone. Thank you so much for the support you have shown so far. We have committed to full transparency with the community. Just an update on the cost and nature of Eli's legal expenses.

    A top flight Auckland barrister has agreed to act pro bono so this has dramatically bought down the estimated legal costs. The legal expenses incurred will be disbursements to expert witnesses and subject matter experts. These are currently estimated at about 10-15k but could go higher especially if there are appeals down the line etc.

    I will not be commenting any further on Eli's legal strategy - that is for Eli and Eli's legal team.
