Taranaki
This page is on behalf of Emma McCallum and her family.
Emma is 14 years old and is a student at Stratford High School. She has recently been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
Emma is currently at Children's Hematology and Oncology Centre, Christchurch Hospital. She is undergoing her first cycle of 10 days of chemotherapy. Following that she will have about two to three weeks break from chemo and then the 2nd cycle starts again. She will be hospitalized for six months. During this time her immunity could be very low and that means she could be isolated in her hospital room until her immunity gets better and she is allowed by the doctor to leave the room.
