Please help support Don and family through this life changing battle by easing some of the financial burden of cancer.
Wellington
Please support Don as he fights oesophageal cancer with integrity, strength, optimism and a high kick. Don was recently dealt a devastating life blow. In October 2020 at just 42 he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive, high grade tumour in the Oesophagus and Stomach Junction that sadly has a low chance of being cured.
This year he has undergone several treatments including intensive chemotherapy in an attempt to shrink the tumour prior to specialist life saving surgery to remove it. The surgery is life changing - removing part of the Oesophagus and Stomach with the hopes that this will prolong his life. Following the surgery the recuperating period and adjustment to "the new normal" is significant...
Unfortunately, Don experienced a major setback just days after his surgery which was performed by a specialist team in Australia - when a complication at the surgery site left him fighting for his life and in critical condition in ICU for 35 days..... He fought hard and has since gained enough strength to return home - much to his precious young daughter Mirabels joy !!!
He is due to receive a further 8 weeks of additional chemotherapy to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence at the surgery site, the treatment approach is radical and coping with the side effects in addition to the after effects of an induced coma and extended ICU stay has him fighting hard once again...
Your support is truely appreciated - no matter if it be large or small as it makes a difference !!
Thank you so much for your love and support xxoo
Don has been overwhelmed by the community outpouring of love and support so far.
