      23 August 2021

    Hi all,

As some of you may have heard, it is with profound sadness that we are writing to let you know that our lovely Renee passed away late last week. The message below was shared by Nick you may have read it already:

“We just wish we had more time.

We’ll never forget you and the way you shaped our family. The way you showered us with never ending love, patience & understanding will always be irreplaceable.

You’ll always be in our hearts and thoughts. Our boys and I will work everyday to make sure you’re proud of us.

We’ll miss you forever Renee. We love you.

    Your boys 💔“

We couldn’t thank you enough for your support and kindness evidenced by your giving. Please keep sharing the page. Your continuous help will support Nick and the boys as they look to carry on without their beloved Renee

  • The Past 10 days

This update has been shared on Appletree Designs’ Facebook page by our amazing project manager Rachel Steinmetz who has been tirelessly leading the charge and project managing this work for us:

“Thank you, thanks you, thank you, to all those people who made this possible and in 10 days!

With NZ being thrown into lockdown last night we were sent into a bit of a panic but again our community came to the party and we have created something very special and something we should all be very proud of as a community.

Unfortunately our carpet got stuck and delayed so we are not quite 100 percent complete but for now, with new pink underlay, Renee and the boys have a beautiful home to return to.

We pray this lockdown lifts giving Renee, Nick and the boys and much time as possible at home together.

An amazing effort from our painting team who completed the interiors in a day and our deck building crew who worked non stop in the pouring rain to get the new deck finished. You are all amazing.

There is still a little bit of work to do on the outside. One more nice day should see this finished. Painting back of garage wall, top coat on garage, garage doors painted, final coat on sun room, final coat on brick on the back wall, door trims painted and hand rails painted.

Renee is desperate to come home and while she is, we will stand down and give the family some space and time together. We will finish these little bits when they are ready for us.

Again thanks to everyone for making this possible. From those who donated on Renee’s givealittle page, suppliers donating product, tradies and labours gifting time, to the chef’s among us, you all rock. Renee, Nick and the boys are beyond words. This is truly life changing for them.

As for me, I intend on sleeping for the next three days of lockdown and can’t wait to spend time with my little people.

With much love and respect for our beautiful village I sign off with Cooper updates until we can return to ‘Move that bus!

    We love you Renee”

    Hi all,

Nick and Renee would like to thank each and everyone of you for your generosity and kindness shown through your donations for their whanau. It’s mind blowing how all of you as Nick and Renee’s friends as well as well wishers touched by this, have responded so generously. Nick and Renee have seen all the support through text messages or connection via social media and they are blown away by the love and support. It’s a busy time for them at the moment so they may not be able to reply to everyone at the moment.

So here’s a snippet of where we are at, Project “Move That Bus for Renee” kicked off on Saturday 7th of August. A lot of people came together and interior walls were stripped, fireplace gutted out, tiling in the kitchen started and the yard tidied up! This is just a snippet of the work that was done.

In the next couple of weeks, the interior of the house will be done as well as the exterior and the rest of the work around the project.

Thank you so much for your financial and non financial support. Nick and Renee’s gratitude is beyond words. Those of you that know them will know that they’d never ask for anything so accepting this help has been tough for Nick but he appreciates it and no words could ever express his gratitude.
