Rebuilding Dreams Broken by Conflict

  • Final Update – Let’s Bring This Home for Stephen

      7 November 2025

This is my final update for our crowdfunding project to support Stephen’s education in New Zealand. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already achieved so much — every contribution has made a real difference in helping Stephen move closer to this life-changing opportunity.

The campaign will close next month, and we’re nearly there. I’m reaching out one last time to ask for your help — whether that’s through another small donation or by sharing this campaign with friends, family, or colleagues who might want to contribute.

Together, we can finish strong and give Stephen and his family the chance of a brighter future.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for your incredible support.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has already contributed to help Stephen — a young man from Myanmar — pursue his dream of studying architecture at Victoria University of Wellington. Your generosity is already making a difference — it's offering Stephen the chance at a future he never thought possible.

Stephen has asked me to pass on his sincere gratitude. He is deeply moved by the kindness of strangers, and the hope your support has given him is truly life-changing.

If you’ve already donated — thank you. We now have one small favour to ask: please consider sharing this campaign with friends, family, and anyone who might be willing to help. Every donation — no matter the amount — brings Stephen one step closer to realising this life-changing opportunity.

As a retired teacher, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative education can be. Here in New Zealand, we’re fortunate to live in a stable, prosperous country where young people can chase their dreams in safety. Stephen, like so many others around the world, hasn’t had that privilege — but he’s determined, capable, and ready to make the most of this chance.

Even the smallest contribution can make a big difference. Let’s show that opportunity and hope can transcend borders — and that compassion has no limits.
