Recording in Portland
Raising the $12,000 shortfall needed to record some of my songs in Portland later this year as part of a CNZ funding proposal resubmission

I'm resubmitting my Creative NZ Arts Grant proposal on April 27th. Because the person previously underwriting and prohect-managing the project has pulled out, I need to raise atleast $12,000.00 by April 26th!!! This is to make up the shortfall in the budget to pay for my flights, accomodation, & expenses in Portland, Oregon where I hope to record a handful of my originals. The CNZ grant will enable me to record a double album of the 20 songs I've written since recording Brave Caitlin Smith's Imaginary Band- You Have Reached Your Destination in 2009. There will be Braille & tactile labyrinths on the cover as before... soundart between songs & recitations of my poems. The bulk of the songs are to be recorded in Tāmaki Makaurau, but.... I'd really love to make the most of this fantastic opportunity to record with the Grammy award winning jazz musicians I had the good fortune & privilege of performing with last year. Recording with these acclaimed Jazz will extend my/our audience and with any luck, launch my music internationally!! I knead your help, & we haven't got much time. CNZ have recommended the project for funding, but... I can't keep all my eggs in one basket. Any amount of money/koha you can give is HUGELY appreciated. Thank you so much in advance. We reached our target, and then sum! Thank you so much for contributing so generously to the Recording-in-Portland campaign. I am incredibly humbled and grateful for your support. I resubmitted the Creative NZ Arts Grant application to record the double-album 'The Long Game' of 20 of my new songs last Thursday April 27th.... Phew!! We won't hear back as to their decision until July 5th. If the application is successful, wheel kick-off recording the bulk of the choons at The Lab studio in Tamaki Makaurau on July 10th. If we don't get CNZ funding ( ...eep!), I may well reach out again on this playform so that the project in it's entirety can take place.
