Are you one of those people?
13 September 2018In the last week we were truly blown away by the many hundreds who answered yes. They risked embarrassment in front of a crowd, all to support New Zealanders in need, New Zealanders under immense pressure because of a broken back or neck.
Our week long appeal is now officially over, but it's not too late to help if you'd still like to.
THREE A WEEK
Many of the hundreds who stepped into a wheelchair to take up the obstacle course challenge at the Palms Mall and University of Canterbury where shocked at how difficult it was to navigate the short course in a wheelchair, and the fact that three Kiwis a week are paralysed by a spinal cord injury was sobering.
SMILES AND LAUGHS
But in the spirit in which the events were intended there were only laughs, friendly competition, and generosity shown. Thank you so much to all who participated, volunteered, supported and cheered on from the sidelines. It was a huge success and we are grateful for your support. WHERE DO THE FUNDS GO?
It costs us over a million dollars to provide peer and family support, back to work support, and specialist training and knowledge services to New Zealanders affected by a spinal cord injury. This year we are under increased pressure to make up for a lost funding source.
As of writing, $14,000 from 200+ generous donors, has been raised.
Thank you to all who gave generously in the last week, both financially and otherwise. We really appreciate you.
