Relocation costs for Ukrainians fleeing the war

Providing support for Ukrainians relocating to New Zealand to escape Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Russia has launched a devastating and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine that has actively targeted its civilian population. Over 2.8 million Ukrainians have fled in the first two weeks, almost all of them women, children or elderly. It is anticipated to create the largest refugee crisis since World War II.

The NZ government has now established a special visa allocation to permit Ukrainians with close family already living in New Zealand to relocate here. We are hopeful that, in the near future, the government will introduce further opportunities for Ukrainian refugees to enter New Zealand. The government has not made any funding available to assist with associated relocation or support costs.

Most Ukrainians have left their former lives behind with only what they could carry on their backs, so they need all the support they can get to set them up for a new life in New Zealand. As Ukrainians provide much needed skills in areas we are short of talent, we are confident that, once they are on their feet, they will be great contributors to our nation.

Please note that all funds raised will be held in the New Zealand Ukrainian Refugee Relocation Trust for the benefit of Ukrainians relocating to New Zealand to escape the war.
