Help 25-year volunteer first responder replace his lost medical bag
Halswell, Christchurch
Last night, my dad, Mike Bryce, experienced a heartbreaking blow: his truck was broken into, and his personal emergency first response medical bag—containing over $10,000 worth of essential, specialized lifesaving equipment—was taken.
For 25 years, Mike has selflessly volunteered his time, energy, and care to protect and serve our community in its most critical moments. Now, without this crucial kit, his ability to respond to local emergencies is severely limited.
While he would love nothing more than to have his gear returned—no questions asked—we are facing the reality that he may have to start over from scratch. So many in our community have reached out asking how to support the man who is always there for everyone else.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward buying the vital medical supplies and equipment needed to
rebuild his first response bag from the ground up.
Insurance may cover the costs of some items, but we are still in the process of applying and it will not cover all costs
If Mike has ever touched your life, or if you simply believe in backing the heroes who keep our community safe, please consider donating or sharing this page. Let’s get Mike fully equipped and back on the front lines doing what he does best.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
Any funds donated will go back to restarting his first response medical bag
Our heartfilled thanks 4 November 2026
We are deeply touched by everyone sharing their stories online about how Dad (Mike) has helped them over the years. When we first created this Givealittle page to help him restart, I’ll be honest—I wasn’t sure how many donations we would receive. We know times are tough for so many right now, which makes your kindness mean even more.
We are completely blown away by the overwhelming love, generosity, and support from our community. Even the New Zealand Herald reached out to Dad to see how they could help, and they have now shared his story to help spread the word.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all so much for standing by him. Your support means the world to our family.
