Setting up an Art Recycling / Sustainable Living Centre

$155 donated
Given by 3 generous donors in one year

This is a great community project & an important vision for all New Zealanders, we need outside help to make this dream a reality.

Manawatu / Whanganui

Putting a new roof on the old Historical Tote Building, Foxton Racecourse will give us full operation for our cause. We have been given a great quote to do the job, been offered man power from the NZ Army and Volunteer help from community. We need to come up with enough funds to get the materials. Once this building is water tight, we will be full steam minimising waste on a mass scale, providing creative classes, education around sustainable living, developing a sustainable community garden.

To date we have replaced a few broken windows, the outside of the building is near freshly painted, its character and charm is near restored! Its the perfect home for our Art Recycling / Sustainable Living Centre. Huge potential for an amazing creative space that makes a big difference. Greenheart Hub Trust has a board of 12 & a rapidly growing volunteer base. There is a lot of excitement in the community as the word gets out there. If you would like to show your support to our project by donating, we thank you for helping to make this happen. It takes a community to make a difference.

Other ways to show support to the Centre is to sponsor a Tote window, call: 0276008638. Sponsorship includes a Horse themed leadlight art work in your window & your name on a Plaque. Sponsorship costs $120.00. Please check out the pictures in the Gallery for an exmple of a lead light sponsorship. You will also see examples of what we have made from recycling plastic bags. We will be actively recycling plastic bags to minimize the impact they are having on our environment. There are also pictures showing the potential this great space has with a bit of restoration (the Foxton Racecourse Tote Building)

About us

Greenheart Hub Trust has relocated Palmerston Norths Art Recycling Centre to Foxton. We are extending what services it offers to include Art & Craft & upcycling workshops, Sustainable Living Education & Hands on Horticulture Education . There are collection bins out in the community for easy donation of unwanted plastic bags and things that can be used for creative purpose. These donations are sorted and displayed in our shop making them available to the community. A volunteer collective helps to recycle the resources every Friday morning. We have a range of upcycled goods for purchase, incl: Recycled net curtain Fruit & veg bags, bulk bin bags, upcycled plastic bag goods, reuse-able shopping bags. We will run events to promote the use of upcyling waste items including wearable art events for schools & the community. A Community garden is being established, which will include a community worm farm & composting & hands on Horticulture education. We have a men's shed going in next door which will work in well with our service. We are still fundraising to restore the dwellings to extend and set up for our operation.

This page has been set up for those that would like to support this cause but unable to give their time volunteering. Our ultimate aim is to minimize waste, shift this disposable mentality that has plagued our society, promote creativity & bring back more sustainable practices. Bringing the community together for the good of our future generations.
