Reuniting Shirley and Gerald: A Journey of Faith, Love, Resilience, and Hope

  • Wonderful News!

      19 May 2025

We are delighted to share that Shirley and Gerald have accepted a conditional offer on their home. It’s truly special to be able to share this update with you before the page closes.

There is both relief and excitement as we begin to picture the future - Mum and Dad sharing a home again. For Mum, this means easier access to a space where she can be with Dad, welcome friends/family and relax in her own space. For Dad, he is relieved open homes are over! And he looks forward to being able to see Mum in the morning and also say good night to her in the evenings.

In the last 24 hours, a further $1,000 has been donated - we are deeply grateful for the incredible generosity and encouragement we have received.

    Thank you xx

Had a lovely message today that was very encouraging. That has probably been the unexpected blessing of this givealittle page for Shirley and Gerald - the monetary giving has been huge - close to 100 people donating over $30,000 - the goal was ambitious, the love and care that has been shared is overwhelming and we still have hope that we will find a way through to get this new home together for Shirley and Gerald. This picture of Mum (taken by Dad) was the last one she sent me a few days before the accident. It's at Tata Beach while they were on holiday together in an area of NZ they hadn't been to before - mum loves the beach and loves swimming (one of the highlights of her week) - and is a reminder to make great memories while you can and find ways through to those things that bring you joy and make your heart sing. This page closes tomorrow but this journey continues. We hope that we can give you further updates (I am desperate to do a "SOLD" update!) If we can't provide further updates - thank-you for your love and support as we find ways through, know that you have lifted our burden and we are grateful beyond words.

Thank you for those lovely words. You are an awesome daughter. Your Mum and Dad have given so much to others, it is time for others to give to them. I hope and pray that the house sells and they can purchase their new home. Much love, Brenda

  • The wait continues......

We were crossing our fingers that the next update would come with a big, bold "SOLD!!!"—but the wait continues (with as much patience as we can muster!).

In the meantime, we’re incredibly grateful for the kindness pouring in. An extra $9,780 in offline donations has boosted the total to $32,414—what an incredible show of support!

Your generosity and encouraging words mean the world. Thank you for being part of this journey with Shirley and Gerald!

  • Quick update

      29 March 2025

    Hello friends,

I hope this message finds you well. First off, I didn't realise there would be a delay between me posting an update and you receiving that update so apologies that the information shared last time was quickly out of date.

As of today, 29 March, I’m excited to share that the Givealittle fund has reached $15,405, and we’ve also received $2,220 in offline donations, bringing the total to $17,625! This is such a huge step forward towards the new unit, and we’re truly grateful for the incredible support and encouragement we’ve received from all of you. It’s heartwarming to see this momentum as the fund continues to grow.

In other news, their house at Bella Rosa didn’t sell at the auction last week, but it has now been listed for a deadline sale. We’re feeling hopeful that the right buyer will come along soon — it will make a wonderful home for another couple.

Once again, sincere thanks for your unwavering support. You’re making such a meaningful difference, and we couldn’t do this without you.

    Ruth
