We want our local community to be protected this upcoming winter with warmth.
Auckland
Our names are Murray Gannaway, William Hawkins, Thomas Hassell and Konna Lundon and we attend Birkenhead College. For Business Studies this year, we have been given the task to put a product on the market for three months, as a part of the Young Enterprise group. However we also have an option to create a charity, which is what we have done.
To cut it short, our idea is to take in old or unwanted shoes, refurbish them and then donate them to lower decile schools in our local area. We will donate each pair of shoes to the local lower decile schools, such as Birkdale, Beach Haven and Birkdale North. This idea was inspired when I was walking to school last year in the winter, where I saw multiple kids walking to school without shoes. That bothered me significantly, which is why me and my group want to start this business.
These lower decile schools would benefit from our business and I hope by the end of our business internal, I no longer see these kids rocking up to school without protection on their feet. Brand new shoes are not a realistic option for all families, so we want to do our part to support all families in need this winter.
We were hoping to be able to partner with local primary schools, in the hopes that in future we could set up drop boxes for shoes from the local schools community.
If you have any shoes or even as much as $1 to donate to this cause, we would appreciate it greatly. Our funds will go towards shoe glue, cleaner, polish, and any excess funds will go towards new paris of shoes for local primary schools or intermediates.
I am part of the group trying to raise funds to start our business.
Towards product to repair shoes, shoe laces etc.
