In order for me to be able to do this event I need to fundraise to provide the funds we will need to support us through this challenge.
Wellington
My story began with 'The Year on my Bike' in 2014 after I was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and cycling became my means of pain relief, to get from A-B, one form of exercise I could do relatively comfortably and my Passion- cycling with friends from Gearshifters and classes at Les Mills Extreme.
I started to cycle in events and fundraise for the Cancer Society and Malaghan Institute while undergoing Chemotherapy.
Then in 2015 it became 'The Ride of My Life' as I continued to cycle and fundraise.
Now in 2019 I am taking on the Biggest Challenge to date with friend Catherine Williams- the Tour of Aotearoa; 3000kms of Magnificent Scenery from Cape Reinga to Bluff on my bike 'Jurnee'.
It is a Bucket List Wish.
Fundraising for the Cancer Society, who have supported me in so many ways!
The funds will be used on accommodation-backpackers mainly, food, transport-ferries/rail/bus, any other necessities such as spare tubes and equipment for bike.
The goal is $2500
Rough days-you gotta get out and do it! 24 October 2018
Today was exceptionally windy and I felt like I was staying in one place on my bike into the wind, but hooning with the wind behind my back.
Those are the days when training in Wellington makes you stronger, you know if you can handle hills, wind and rain, you can handle most that Mother Nature brings.
I didn't get far but it sure was a workout!
