I have the chance to compete for NZ in the rowing world championships but need financial help to get there.
Waikato
My name is Drikus Conradie and I am on an incredible sporting journey.
About me
• I’m 19 years old, one of the youngest selected to represent NZ rowing at the u23 level.
• I grew up in Hamilton attending Hamilton Boys’ High School.
• I’ve been rowing since year 12, which is three summer seasons.
• We currently have 14 trainings a week, with Tuesdays and Fridays having three trainings!
• I’m a part of the Waikato Rowing Club.
My Dream
• Represent New Zealand on the world stage at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!
• Most importantly beat Eric Murray and Hamish Bond in a pair’s race!
Rowing Achievements

Here are the costs of for my training and tour:
• The tour contribution is $7,500.
• NZ rowing requires we have a road bicycle, which will cost $1,000 - $3,000.
• Accommodation, food and other associated costs will be roughly $2,500.
• I've worked out petrol costs for training will be $750.
Please help me raise the funds I need so I can help bring another world championship win to New Zealand.

Week 11 - Leaders 20 June 2015
The elites traveled to their first World Cup in Italy this Thursday, leaving us in charge as the oldest age group at the Rowing NZ high performance centre. The under 18, 'Juniors' joined us this week. From Thursday the wind picked up and we had a taste of the strong headwind we should expect at the course in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The wind and waves proved to us we're going to face a large challenge ensuring the boat stays balanced and we continue rowing with proper technique. The main difficulty with the headwind is squaring the blade before the catch. The wind blows against the oar, creating an upward force which our arms need to counteract. The forearms and shoulders became impressively tight by the weekend.
Throwback to my roots. I'm proud and honoured to have made it this far with my passion for rowing. The biggest heart warming thanks to Hamilton Boys' High School rowing and the amazing people who have helped put me on the right track.
Keep the pain and gains coming!
