The almost century-old Roxburgh pool has served its community well but it's showing its age and it's time for a new pool.

Otago

The almost century-old Roxburgh Pool has served its community well but it's showing its age. The Roxburgh Community Pool Committee is keen to replace the pool for this and future generations, and most importantly to create a safe swimming environment, especially with the Clutha River/ Matau-au so close.

The proposed redevelopment will create a modern facility that meets the needs of toddlers through to the elderly population and promotes a healthy lifestyle. There will be a 25m uncovered heated pool for seasonal use, and a learners' pool and toddlers' pool.

The total estimated cost of the pool upgrade is $2.5 million. The Roxburgh Community Pool Committee aims to start the build next summer if funding from third party funders and through community fundraising can be secured.

We have secured approx $350,000 to date and are in the process of submitting applications to the major funding bodies.

Resource consent has been lodged so as you can see we are shovel ready.

This project is bigger than us, so please if you can help out with a donation big or small you will be doing something that will help our community and for future generations to come

Use of funds

All funds will be used towards the cost of building the new pool which will cost $2.5 million
