Helping Kiwi's back into their homes in 2026.
Palmerston North Central, Palmerston North
Jennian Homes Manawatu are supporting the work of the Environment Network Manawatū’s Ruahine Kiwi Project, helping Kiwi's back into their homes. They have set the incredible goal of returning the brown kiwi to the Ruahine ranges by 2026 and will be on track to do this with your support!
At Jennian we believe in Mahi Tahi - working together as one - and we are putting our full support behind this endeavour. We have pledged funds, we will fundraise and our team will volunteer. We believe this is an endeavour that serves greatly our region and helps restore our Maunga into its original state.
Ruahine Kiwi is a partnership between Environment Network Manawatū and Te Kāuru Eastern Manawatū River Hapū Collective. They work in strong collaboration with tangata whenua, local farmers and volunteers. They actively seek to educate and inform individuals and diverse groups of our work and how they can make a positive impact on our rohe. They are currently trapping the main predators of the kiwi such as stoats and weasels and have six trappers working in the Ruahine ranges. They are on track for completion by 2026.
Unfortunately, current funding for this project finishes mid-2024. Your support will help keep the work on track and make the dream a reality so that we can all enjoy having kiwi on our doorstep, and back in their homes.
