Reaching out for support love and kindness for camp owners Geoff and Ange after a devastating fire at Ruapuke campground

Raglan, Waikato

On Saturday 1 March owners of Ruapuke Motor camp Geoff and Ange Choat suffered a devastating fire when an E. Scooter battery exploded in the camp office igniting a fast and furious fire.

Geoff amd Ange lost many irreplaceable personal possessions .

Sadly Geoff suffered serious burns to his upper-body as he tried to extinguish the fire. He has undergone long surgeries not without complications . He remains in Waikato hospital and is still unable to receive visitors . Geoff has a long recovery ahead . Ange is giving him all her emotional support.

Both are due to be grandparents again any minute and were looking forward to being part of this event .

They have suffered irrecoverable losses and mounting extra costs on the long healing journey

They are both devastated by the tragedy but very relieved campers and caretakers were unharmed. This is huge to them .

Geoff is still shaken and has not yet been able to look at pictures of the aftermath . It will be a long time before our ‘Camp Leader ‘ can return to his camp .

These guys are the most generous , kind hearted folk . They extend a jovial welcome offering campers to choose from the many beautiful park like spots ,unencumbered by site boundaries , It is a privilege and a joy to stay at this magical place

They have hosted many returning tourists , internationals , sport enthusiasts and families from their local community.

Now is a time to extend gratitude and love back to this very humble kind spirited couple
