Funding the planting of trees by smallholder-farmers in Uganda.
International
Rubuguri district in Western Uganda is home to many subsistence farmers who make a living from smallholdings of land, usually on steep erosion-prone hillsides near Bwindi National Park. Since 2016, we've funded the planting of over 35,000 trees by 197 subsistence farmers. These trees provide shade, prevent erosion, capture carbon, and bring other benefits. The Rubuguri community want more!
Akantorana Moses has a demanding day-job in gorilla conservation, but it was his idea to set this project in motion; he is our local organiser and contact person. (Bwindi is one of the last strongholds of the mountain gorilla.)
I guarantee to cover any admin and transport costs myself, so every $NZ you donate will plant 5 tree seedlings.

Buying seedlings from three local nurserymen, paying for their transport, and paying farmers a small amount to plant them. The need is open-ended; every $ raised will be used.
thank you so much for this! I really appreciate it. We should now be able to go well above our interim target of 7,000 trees.
Thanks so much Colin and best wishes for Christmas. This has gone through, so there's another 1000 trees!
Bruce, this is brilliant, thank you SO much!
