Run for Emmeline

Hi everyone,

Our Story....

As a lot of you know, Nick and I had a pretty tough 2019. We welcomed and then said goodbye too quickly to our beautiful daughter Emmeline Isabell Turner-Wright who was born and passed away on July 16th 2019. That day was the best and worst day of our lives, we were in a state of shock and didn't really know what we were doing as you can probably imagine. We were so well supported by the nurses, doctors and all staff at Auckland Hospital Maternity and NICU wards and will never be able to thank them enough. They got on the phone and organised someone from Heartfelt NZ to come and take photos of us with our beautiful daughter as well as doing hand/foot prints and a memory box and book and providing us with a cool cot so Emmeline could stay by our sides.

The lady from Heartfelt (i wish we could remember her name) arrived within a couple of hours. She came in and put us both at ease straight away, we had no idea what to do so she gently guided us and supported us to make sure we got some beautiful photos of us with our daughter. We received a link to online versions of these photos by the next morning and when we returned home from the hospital a week later some beautifully printed versions and a USB were waiting for us. I can't describe to you how much those photos meant to us and how we cherish them, we look at them and notice little things about Emmeline we hadn't noticed at the time. All of this service was completely free to us.

My Goal...

I needed something positive to focus on and something to help get me out of the house, get fit and healthy again. So i have decided to tick off a bucket list item which is to complete a full Marathon (42km) and have chosen the Napier Marathon on 16th May 2020. This specific marathon finishes at a winery where they are holding a food and wine festival! I want to do this in honour of our daughter and to raise funds for Heartfelt so that any other people going through the same or similar situations can also have access to beautiful photos they too can cherish. I would like to raise $1100 which is equivalent to approximately 16 photo sessions (each session costs around $65), i also have allowed for the fact that givealittle take a 5% service fee.

About Heartfelt....

Heartfelt is dedicated to giving the gift of photographic memories to families that have experienced stillbirths, premature births, or have children with serious and terminal illnesses throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Volunteer photographers will come to the hospital, hospice, your home or wherever requested at a time convenient to you and will supply you with cherished photographic memories. After your session your family will be provided with a set of 4"×6" inch prints (approximately 20 prints), and a USB disk of high resolution digital images packaged beautifully in a custom presentation box for the family. There is no charge for this service.
