Support mental illness/health through art therapy. By running the ASB Auckland marathon, raising awareness & benefits of art therapy.
I am raising money and awareness about art therapy for mental health. Supporting a community organization Arts For Health Community Trust located in Hamilton. To do this I will be running at the ASB Auckland Marathon in October, where the event itself raises money for mental illness/health in New Zealand.
As an art tutor who works with children as young as 2 years, through to adults and an individual who will be making their way into the Art Therapy study in the near future, I myself personally know the important benefits of art therapy, in the help with people.
Art therapy is another form of therapy, helping all individuals in a safe space, to help explore and express their emotions, manage stress, addictions, depression, behavioral issues, physical illness, disabilities along with improved self-esteem and more.
Art therapy can be done in many different ways, through painting, drawing, collages, digital art, photography, mixed media and more.
With different struggles we all face, small or big, it is important to know that we have this option to help us learn to work and express what it is we may be facing, processing these challenges in a safe, healthy, creative space.
To help encourage art therapy I will be running to help fund this community. Arts For Health has been running for 32 years, making positive impact on the lives that this center connects to. By helping to fund Arts For Health, they can continue to not only support the community, but to support our friends, our family, and ourselves.

A casual worker at this organization, I help work alongside individuals that come for connection & support. With lots of support to give, but little funds to do so, Arts For Health can continue helping grow and support the community with your help.
Funds will go directly to the community centre, funding with support for people that attend the centre, material cost, projects, and more.
